Bouge d’ici is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2010 to support Montreal’s up-and-coming contemporary dance artists. Bouge d’ici-ers believe in creating their own opportunities, sharing their experiences with others and taking their artistic development into their own hands. Mentorship – artistic and otherwise – as well as audience development and accessibility are of great importance to Bouge d’ici. Produced by MainLine Theatre, the Bouge d’ici Dance Festival celebrates dance every January in Montréal’s Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood; events include a run of the Common Space/L’Espace Commun showcase, the Cabaret Bouge d’ici, a dance-video evening and dance-related workshops.
Bouge d’ici’s practice is based on five principles:
Bouge d’ici was formerly known as CoMotion Farm which was founded as a reaction to the lack of realistic opportunities for emerging choreographers or students to present their work in professional contexts.
